Owlbone is old — older than most trails, older than many grudges. He speaks little, letting the great owl skull at his side watch and listen in his stead.
Through smoke, sap, and whispered rites, he reads the forest’s moods and the omens of war yet to come. The skull remembers what others forget, and Owlbone remembers what must not be spoken.
In DeepWood, no raid begins without his blessing — or his warning.

Once she walked the Free Farms as a healer, gathering herbs at dusk and whispering prayers over wounds. But the lords feared her sway over the common folk more than they valued her cures.
When the trials came, she vanished into the Shallow Marsh, carrying with her the secrets no fire could burn.
There, amid fog and reeds, she became something older, something darker — Mother Mandragore, the witch whose children are war and silence.

Born beneath the hollow roots of a drowned willow, Bru’Zwein was a dark-winged bat marked from birth by strange visions. Life in the swamp was harsh, until Mother Mandragore found her.
The old witch saw power in the trembling child — a voice that could bend shadows, a mind that could listen to spirits in the reeds.
Under her tutelage, Bru’Zwein learned the chants that twist bone and the smoke that clouds reason.
Now, when she spreads her wings above the battlefield, the air fills with whispers that drive soldiers to their knees.
